This pattern is 11″ wide with no repeats. It has 4 panels of 3′ each and includes the following designs:
Gentoo Penguins (2) and Chicks, Adelie Penguins (2) and Chick, Rockhopper Penguins, Magellanic Penguins (2), Chinstrap Penguins, King Penguins (2), and Emperor Penguins (2). There’s a total of 27 full penguins (this number doesn’t include partial pictures and babies).
Several years ago the Seattle zoo celebrated its centennial. A customer called and asked if I could draw a set of Penguin blocks so that she could make a quilt to commemorate the event. It was fun doing the research. I learned a great deal about the different varieties of Penguins. After creating the blocks I also made this Pictogram pattern. I have thoroughly enjoyed this fun pattern.
I have made several with this pattern. When I made one for myself I decided to paint some of the Penguins with Tsukineko Inks. It was a great success and soo easy.
We now sell a set with inks included at our show booths. If you want to buy inks go to Patti Buhlers website:
