These singing blackbirds bring a nostalgic touch to a quilt. They reminded me of Pennsylvania dutch motifs. That’s why the matching border/sashing is called Dutch Hearts.
In the layout view you’ll see a hint of secondary design as the music staff floats through the pattern.
Nadine gave me some Blackberry starts from her mother’s garden. They are bounteous. This year we’ll probably have 15 qts of berries. Luckily we love blackberry jam! But it’s hard to take the time from my quilting.
I sat on the grass in my yard and drew the leaves and berries for this pattern. I saw plenty of birds there too.
