Blackbird Pie 11″ Edge-to-Edge

Ummm!  BLACKBERRY JAM! In Kansas we nurture our Blackberry plants. But in Oregon we saw a man weeding his garden and pulling out “volunteer” Blackberries.

These singing blackbirds bring a nostalgic touch to a quilt.  They reminded me of Pennsylvania dutch motifs.  That’s why the matching border/sashing is called Dutch Hearts /Blackbird 6″ Border.  You can get them all in the Blackbird Pie Set for 20% OFF.

In the layout view you’ll see a hint of secondary design as the music staff floats through the pattern.

Nadine gave me some Blackberry starts from her mother’s garden.  They are bounteous.  This year we’ll probably have 15 qts. of berries.  Luckily we love blackberry jam! But it’s hard to take the time from my quilting.

I sat on the grass in my yard and drew the leaves and berries for this pattern.  I saw plenty of birds there too.

We’re letting this lovely pattern have a rest.  We will sell the paper copies until they are gone.  It will continue to be available individually as a PDF.
