Art by the Aboriginal people of Australia is delightfully distinctive. I love the stylized busy-ness of their paintings and fabric designs. Because it was “busy” I had to make this pattern a 14-inch size. I just could not get all I wanted squished into 10 inches. I do have a border with many of the same designs for those of you who want a narrower pattern.
Dot paintings are popular and symbols are important. There are many symbols and I’ll attach a page of the authentic designs that “I” used in this pattern. I started an Aborigine inspired quilt in the Kaffe Fassett class.
Aussie designs are fun and we have several. Check out “Didgeridoo,” “Wallaby Weave,” new “Turtle Reef,” “Downunder 11,” “Downunder 6,” Down Under Blocks and “Billabong Creek.”
