Description

I hope this pattern will remind you of the many “Tapa” type designs found in Hawaiian art.  It does me!  It’s perfect for a modern quilt, a traditional quilt, or even a border on a traditional Hawaiian style quilt.

The main image, “Hawaii,” contains 2 rows of stylized flowers and Monstera Deliciosa* leaves that interlock to form 9.5 inches.  Continue interlocking them to fill a large area or an entire quilt or use a single row as a border.

The 2.5 inch “Hawaiian Tapa” Sashing or border could fill a whole quilt too – and look very modern!  Mix them up in lots of different ways.

(*I have always called this leaf split-leaf philodendron, but I was wrong!)
